A New Year Begins
The Christmas season is drawing to a close, people are returning from holiday and businesses are reopening. At Salem Crossroads Christian Care Centre the residents are already in the swing of the New Year.
The nursery is restocking after our sales at the N.G. Kerk Church fair and at the markets in Kenton. It takes a lot of planning to keep a propagation nursery the size of ours stocked and cared for. We were blessed with a donation of seeds that will shortly be planted and placed in our propagation tunnel. Our Farm Stall business is slowly growing as we increase both the quality and range of products that we are selling. Our home-made Ginger Beer and Lemonade are always popular, as well the superb fudge and selection of biltong.
As the stock of wood on the farm is being depleted, keeping up with the demand for wood sales is becoming increasingly more difficult. We are looking at other ways of generating enough income to support the farm
. At present we are reliant on ad-hoc donations to keep our heads above water. If you are in a position to assist please contact us on salemcrossroadsght@gmail.com or on our office number: 079 541 3041. We will accept any donation.
Residents often arrive off the street with only the clothes on their back. Donations of used clothing will not be wasted. Other donations like sheets, blankets, duvets and food will always be used.
Another area where you could help is in restoring the house and living areas. At the moment the accommodation is in a barely liveable condition and some major refurbishment is needed.
We have one functional toilet and one shower that cater for 25 residents. If you are in a position to donate towards the restoration fund, or undertake to refurbish a room or bathroom. You will be partnering with a Christian Care Centre that provides an invaluable service to the Albany community.
We wish you a blessed and prosperous 2018, and looking forward to hearing from you. With your help we can help others.
